Sorry, I did not make any postcards, greetings, etc for Christmas, I was busy buying others' wrapping paper designs (pfah!) instead of making mines. Buuuut... I did some patterns late '11, totally irrelevantly to anything festive, these were inspired by the 1930s but punked up to my own sketchy style.

Now, Dear 1930s Spirit, thanks for coming, now please go away, I certainly do not want a second portion of your ugly Great Depression. I decided 2012 will be a great year with brilliant successes and achievements. Thank you!

Quirkology

well well, let's break the fashion and textile cycle a bit, here is the final major project for my OTHER degree... (yes I have two now, woohoo.)for this one, the task was to create an exhibition material for the science museum's latest that is about "quirkological" research... such as what is the perfect breakfast, how do our surnames affect our lives and why can't people draw clockwise and counterclockwise circles with their hands at the same time..... in short, everything that has ever been covered by the amazing brainiac - science abuse programme and the mighty Jon Tickle in it. well i'm a big fan of Mr Tickle, science, and i'm a quirky person in general so I have developed these designs...my idea was to make amateur closeups of everyday objects, afterall all this science i about everyday stuff we rarely think about scientifically... so there it is. (don't steal it either pls all rights reserved, etc.)So, posters:

this was my degree collection back in 2010, just thought i'd publish this on here too now that i scrapped my fashion blog. i made all the patterns, the fabrics, then i made the clothes of them too, then i asked my beautiful friend Kata Dovydenas to wear them and my talented other friend Reka Raffay to take pictures of them then i made the graphic design too so this was a pretty complex project. i named my fashion label "abercaldy" because i wanted it to sound a bit gaelic and scottish and all that. i should have probably named it something else but this will do for now. dont steal ok, i put so much hard work into this. (and i graduated with a first class bachelors in 2010 so it was all worth it in the end.)

And I sent in one of these two pictures for the Telegraph Big Picture competition. It went unnoticed but thankfully I have this blog so you can see an amazing Fife harbour captured by my old camera which just fine by the way.

This was for another competition brief, this time for the Young Creatives Network. The challenge here was to create a new campaign for P&O Ferries that would reach the flying market... I thought this had a great potential and it is time to take the glove and give a well-deserved roasting to Ryanair! (Make no mistake, Michael O'Leary is an absolute legend and their company's communication is the funniest ever... I just thought why let them be the only ones doing that? It's about bloody time somebody gives them a run for their money innit.)

So I made these graphic disasters "for the lulz". Remember guys, this is for the Young Creatives so I thought why not be Young and Creative huh.

***I sourced the Lost image from a Spanish fan blog, the original one belongs to the makers of the series and I have nothing to do with it. For the record, I haven't even seen an episode. The standing seats picture that was an artist's impression of what it would look like if Ryanair introduced standing seats. I did not author the original image and I saved it from the BBC website. I also used two images that were sourced from a blog collecting safety cards. I only modified them for a message which was part of an attempt for a viral internet campaign I created in education, please don't sue me I have no money for lawyers***

But then I thought despite all the cheeky and offensive humour it is still a design task so I took it seriously and gave it an adult shape matching previous campaigns of the company. Everyone is happy.

***All content for the Brochure was copied and pasted from www.poferries.com, this was not a real brief, I have no copyrights for the words "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere", this appears in a song I never paid for to use, this was just an idea to show, I swear I would have suggested to the potential customer to pay for it if it had been a real brief. I do not hold any copyrights for the P&O Ferries logo, it was given to us to use it for a competition. You would gain literally nothing by suing me.***

This is my attempt to make some enjoyable infographia. It was created for the competition for ISTD (the International Society of Typographic Designers) so I made these educational posters. The content was inspired by my Quality Managament Studies at University that I had always thought of as an "interesting albeit quite useless area of science that I would never need again in my life" but there you go, life proved me wrong, cheers Professors!

Red Squares

Sooo clever huh. What a great pun in the title. I took it literally and "red squares" appear all over the place throughout my design.

The design was inspired by the amazing rushnyk embroidery and of course - tetris, which is possibly the most famous Russian invention ever. So there you go. Too bad it's not a real book.

pages from a book I made in a cliched collage style back from the days of experiments with graphic styles. this was meant to be about birmingham, i tried to grasp the historic and friendly nature of it instead of emphasising the great and mighty concrete (stupid decision i know!) but this book is not actually finished or published or anything and i genuinely don't think it ever will but it's nice to have them in my archives to show off

Ok, so there's this exhibition called SIMPLICITY at KéK, Budapest... it's a very witty and funny memorial of '70s office life, made by my talented photographer friend and all her uni mates... and thanks to her, our lil plant is exhibited as a part of it, representing a wish for more air in one of the offices. It's now all public and visible for everyone. It's an amazing exhibition!

I also got the chance to put the Plant samples on the glass entrance wall as well, with some (hopefully) interesting office-like solution.

About a year ago I made this design magazine with my talented photographer friend. I used her pictures and experimented with the layouts... it was about popular indoor plants. Not much science, more design. But it might become a part of some kind of major project. Or we might even be able to publish it... we don't know yet. I'd almost forgotten it existed and then it suddenly becomes a part of my life again. Good!

this is the blog of zockney who calls herself a graphician (or a graphist even?), which is a made-up word which is the world's most try-hard attempt to show off one's levels of creativity.

I made this blog because I believe I have many many many many fantastic great terrific awesome ideas but I do genuinely suck at presenting them so this is a tool of development and a harmless space to publicly store the stuff that comes out of my mind in occasionally good quality.
